(Seven Series, Book #4)
By Dannika Dark
Lorenzo Church is the dark one. He is a packmaster who holds his pack together through strength and discipline. If you want to belong to the strongest pack in the area, you want to be in Lorenzo's group. His a group, not necessarily a family. There is very little room for emotional ties, loyalty is based on status. Case in point - there are no children in his pack.
Ivy is the daughter of a packleader. She understands the nuances, the traditions, the responsibilities of being a member of a successful pack. And she understands what it means to lead by stature.
On the surface, you would think that Lorenzo would be attracted to the obvious types of women - flashy, obvious, and stunning. And you would be right. He normally is. But there is something about Ivy that attracts him - she is a wise, old soul. It doesn't take long for Lorenzo to become attached to Ivy and learning about her history makes him admire her even more and solidifies his determination to protect her.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between Ivy and Lorenzo. Ivy is part Native American and is heavily influenced by its culture and stories. Lorenzo's grandmother is also Native American and he connects with Ivy at a very deep level.
I have said in the past that sometimes the author's heroines get a bit preachy. Here, Ms. Dark has found the perfect vehicle for that kind of character. Ivy gently influences Lorenzo with her wisdom, courage and grace. Her insights are woven masterfully into the story. In return, Lorenzo is thoughtful and contemplative with Ivy. Their love story feels mature.
It is also thrilling to revisit with some of the characters from the Mageri series. When I think back to that series and compare those stories with the writing in Four Days, I can see Ms. Dark's growth as an author. Her characterizations and plotting have continue to mature.
IN A NUTSHELL:
This is my favorite book in the series to date. With mature characters and themes, Dannika Dark gives us a fantastic new read to add to our paranormal romance collection.
