We will be celebrating with Kristen Ashley for her release of Kaleidoscope tomorrow with an excerpt and giveaway. Today, we'd like to share with you our review of Kaleidoscope. Enjoy!
It isn't easy to catch Deck off guard, but Emme does just that when she walks back into his life after nine long years. The curvy brunette had her charms back in the day, but now she's a bona fide knockout . . . and she wants to rekindle their friendship. Deck, however, wants more. Emme's always been the one; she excites Deck's body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme's past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she'll let him . . .
Have you ever had a crush on the most popular guy in high school? You probably sat next to him in History or Math. The two of you were friends; you got along great, laughed at the same jokes, had a lot in common, but you never thought you could be together because socially, he was so way out of your league. This book is the story of the girl who gets the guy.
Jacob "Deck" Decker and Emmanuelle Holmes met ages ago, when Deck was dating Emme's best friend. Emme and Deck hit it off and had the kind of I-can-talk-to-you-about-anything relationship, and although they didn't always agree with one another, they had mutual respect. When Deck and the friend broke up, so did Deck and Emme. Nine years later and they reunite under inauspicious circumstances. Despite the obstacles, former mutual respect becomes a white-hot, all-in relationship.
Kristen Ashley has a way of writing alpha-males. They are so controlling, so darn arrogant and then they say something like this: "Then [I'm going] to turn my attention to givin' you the best life I can for the rest of the time you're on this earth breathin'." Ahh, God. I have been waiting for AGES for Decker's story. Tall, dark, handsome with a genius level IQ, he is a character I've been eager to explore. Decker is the quintessential KA hero. Emme is an enigma. On the surface, she is all sunshine and happiness but the things in her past makes her behave in self-preserving ways. Decker, not shying away from any challenge, sets out to figure out the puzzle. This relationship develops on the midst of a ring of burglary thieves of which both Emme and Decker are involved.
This is a very complicated story with no easy answers. That is saying a lot considering the high drama found in the other books in the Colorado Mountain series where Nina, Lauren, Lexi and Faye were are all kidnapped, shot, buried alive or all of the above. But this book is slightly different and without given out any spoilers, I'll say that I really liked how this book turned out. I enjoyed the mystery unravelling. I loved seeing all the girls back and I especially loved revisiting with Chace and Faye. At the end of the day, I really loved what Emme brings to Deck and how Deck brings that alive. *Sigh*
IN A NUTSHELL:
If you've been itching to come back to the Colorado Mountains, this is your chance. Decker and Emme's story will bring you back to the people, the romance, and drama.
