Book 5 in the The Corps Security Series
On the surface, you probably could not find a more opposite couple than Maddox and Emmy - where he is dark and broody, she is light and optimistic. But they soon discover that their contrasts are only skin deep, because they have more in common than they could have imagined.
Emmy's past is dark and twisted. My heart breaks for her family dynamics and how she was raised. It is a story about not being determined by your circumstances and instead, making a choice to forget your own path in life. It is easy to admire her courage and tenacity.
Maddox also has a difficult past, but unlike, Emmy, he has let his past determine him. He has not made a choice learn from the past, but not be defined by it. It is difficult to be in this kind of relationship. It's hard on Emmy to constantly do the heavy lifting and the process to find equilibrium is what makes this story a journey.
One of the best in the series, it is a most satisfying ending to the men of The Corps Security. I don't think it is a spoiler to say that everyone deserves and gets a happy ending. I've enjoyed the entire journey.
